Press On

There are certainly indications for concern in the NGO community but I believe it is imperative that we do not place our shining light under a bushel. We need to model our partners and press on through adversity. I am anticipating fruitful discussions as we gather to formulate our new strategic plan this weekend.

  1. I agree Bernadette, but I think if we truly want to avoid hiding under a bushel, we need to get the message out there about what Development and Peace does. That is the challenge. So far, Development and Peace has not made the effort necessary to make the 'leap' necessary to go public with its positive message.

National Council at the AOA should push for a renewed effort in this vital area.

  2. Like our partners, we need to work at the grassroots level, spreading the message of Development and PEACE within our local diocese and communities. At the same time the national organization needs to provide us with the tools to be effective communicators at the local level. If we can do that, then we practice the social justice principle of subsidiarity and we build an organization that is not merely a beurocracy.
